La rédaction de CQ-QSO invite tous les membres UBA à nous aider pour composer la couverture du CQ-QSO 2010 en nous procurant de bonnes photos (non soumises aux droits d’auteurs).
Toutes les activités concernant les radioamateurs peuvent être prises en considération. Néanmoins, nous avons une préférence par rapport au thème concernant des activités avec les jeunes. Seules les photos en couleurs et de résolution suffisante pourront être utilisées. Le 1er novembre 2009 nous clôturerons la collecte de photos. Envoyez vos photos à cqqso [at] uba [dot] be.

Frank De Winne over radioamateurisme

Op donderdag 23 juli was er een ARISS radiocontact tussen de Ugo Guido school te Forte dei Marmi (Italië) en Frank De Winne, ON1DWN.
Tijdens het gesprek werd er een vraag gesteld die voor ons bijzonder interessant is:
"Hoe belangrijk is het radioamateur station aan boord van het ISS?"
Het antwoord van Frank was:
"Radioamateurisme is belangrijk voor ons in het ISS omdat het voor ons een belangrijke psychologische steun is. Het is altijd prettig om met mensen op aarde te praten, in het bijzonder met schoolkinderen zoals jij, en vragen te beantwoorden over het leven hier in de ruimte. Daarom houden we zeer veel van de radioamateur contacten."

Dear ARISS-Europe members,
ARISS prepares a satellite to be launched by hand from ISS.
This was to be built in a discarded Orlan scaphander, but the two Russian space suits that we were promised, were discarded from ISS because of lack of space. We are now planning to use the already built equipment in a new frame.
The sat will have capability to broadcast messages recorded by youngsters and addressed to the youth of the world. We are presently collecting suitable messages.
Would you please send to me an mp3 file with your proposed message. The message shall be no longer than 30 seconds. It can be in your national language or in English.
This is urgent. Thank you.

Frank De Winne parle du radioamateurisme

Jeudi 23 juillet, il y eu un contact radio ARISS entre l'école Ugo Guido à Forte dei Marmi en Italie, et Frank De Winne, ON1DWN.
Au cours de la conversation, une question très intéressante pour nous a été posée :
"Quelle est l'importance de la station de radio amateur à bord de l'ISS?"
La réponse de Frank a été :
"Le radio amateurisme est important pour nous dans l'ISS, car c'est un important soutien psychologique. Il est toujours agréable de parler avec les gens sur la terre, surtout avec des enfants des écoles comme vous, et de répondre aux questions sur la vie dans l'espace. C'est pour cela que nous aimons les contacts avec les radioamateurs."
Een ARISS radiocontact met hindernissen

In het kader van het verblijf van Frank De Winne, ON1DWN, aan boord van het ISS had ook de Koninklijke School voor Onderofficieren te Saffraanberg (Sint-Truiden) een ARISS radiocontact gepland.
De datum van dit radiocontact hing af van de lancering van de space shuttle vlucht STS-127, een vlucht die om technische en meteorologische redenen verschillende keren uitgesteld werd.
Uiteindelijk werd het tijdstip van het radiocontact vastgelegd op vrijdag 16 juni om 19u09 Belgische zomertijd en werd in Campus Saffraanberg alles in gereedheid gebracht.
Eén minuut voor het International Space Station aan de horizon verschijnt, beginnen de radioamateurs zoals gepland het ISS aan te roepen.
“OR4ISS, this is ON4BAF. Do you copy ? Over” klinkt het minuten lang aan de micro. Er komt echter geen enkel antwoord vanuit de ruimte…
Enkele ogenblikken voor het radiocontact was Frank De Winne immers dringend weggeroepen om te helpen bij het aandokken van de Space Shuttle. De enige kans op een radiocontact van die avond zagen we letterlijk aan de horizon voorbij gaan.
Gelaten verlaten de leerlingen en de radioamateurs de radiokamer en in de kantine wordt er nog wat nagepraat tot plotseling een telefoontje ons meldt dat er een nieuw radiocontact werd gepland bij de volgende doortocht van het ISS om 20u44. Studenten, publiek en de nog aanwezige persmensen worden op de hoogte gebracht van het goede nieuws en wachten opnieuw vol spanning de nieuwe doortocht af.
Heel veel stress, doch deze keer lukt het wel !
De operator van dienst was zelfs zo verrast dat hij even zijn tekst kwijt was…
Uiteindelijk verloopt alles volgens het boekje en beantwoordt Frank De Winne twintig vragen van de leerlingen. De radioamateurs kijken nu al met spanning uit naar de behouden terugreis en het bezoek van onze astronaut aan de Campus.
De bekroning van een ‘geslaagd’ radiocontact, wat er ook in de kranten heeft gestaan…

ARISS radiocontact met Frank De Winne vanuit volkssterrenwacht Urania

Op maandag 24 augustus is er een ARISS radiocontact met Frank De Winne (ON1DWN) gepland vanuit de volkssterrenwacht Urania te Hove (bij Antwerpen).
Vanaf 11u kan men terecht in het auditorium van de sterrenwacht, het ARISS radiocontact is voorzien om 12u22 (Belgische zomertijd). Dit in de veronderstelling dat de Shuttle missie STS-128 zoals voorzien gelanceerd wordt omstreeks 6u UTC op maandag 24 augustus. Indien de lancering uitgesteld wordt gaat het ARISS radiocontact iets later door, om 13u30.
In beide gevallen gaat het om een telebridge contact, respectievelijk via W6SRJ of VK4KHZ, en kan men het radiocontact in Europa niet live volgen op 2 meter.

Suitsat 2 Call Sign ID Contest

Among the many operations that will be carried out onboard Suitsat 2, one of the most exciting will be the Call Sign ID Contest. The objective of the contest is to spur interest in International Morse code and to honor those individual amateur radio operators who have significantly contributed to the development of amateur radio in space. This includes those who have contributed to amateur radio on satellites as well as those involved in human space flight.
The call sign of the Suitsat 2 station will be sent via CW in International Morse code followed by the call sign of one of individuals submitted by the ARISS delegates and then some TBD telemetry. Over the period of the mission all call signs should be transmitted. Once the entire set of call signs have been transmitted, they will be repeated again. This will continue until the end of the mission.
Those participating in the contest will monitor and record call signs of the individuals. Not only will this serve as a competitive challenge and inspire young listeners to learn Morse code, it will honor those who have devoted enormous time and effort to develop amateur radio in space.
In order to achieve this goal, we are inviting all ARISS (Amateur Radio on International Space Station) Delegates to submit a list of names and call signs of their amateur radio operator volunteers that they feel should be honored in this way. We ask the delegates to limit their lists to a maximum of fifty (50) call signs. This is a great opportunity to recognize all those who have contributed so much and continue to give of themselves to ensure ham radio will always have a place in space.
We ask that the lists be submitted along with the name of the individual and a brief explanation of why this person is on the list. This data will used only to answer questions of who is this ham operator and why is he/she being so honored.
This list should be submitted to Dave Jordan AA4KN at aa4kn [at] amsat [dot] org who has volunteered to gather the lists and deliver them to the Suitsat team for programming into the satellite prior to launch. Dave has also volunteered to review the lists submitted by the contestants. Please also send a copy to w5did [at] amsat [dot] org and to gaston [dot] bertels [at] skynet [dot] be
