Dit is ook de mening van de humanitaire organisaties, zegt Keith Robertory, verantwoordelijke voor de noodcommunicaties van het Amerikaanse Rode Kruis. Hij schrijft het volgende:
"Amateur radio is a very powerful tool if the amateur radio operators are in the area where the disaster occurs... There's a window of opportunity for amateur radio operators right at the beginning [of a disaster]. ... That's where they are extremely valuable."
