Jacques Verleijen ON4AVJ - Silent Key
On August 6, 2022 Jacques ON4AVJ unexpectedly passed away.
Throughout the years Jacques has held many functions within the UBA. It is an impressive record of service, from 1992 until 2018. Here is an overview:
At the 2017 General Assembly, he received the golden honorary pelt in recognition of his dedication and commitment to the UBA (photo).
Between 2014 and 2021 he took up the mandate of IARU VHF Manager of IARU Region 1. During that time, he coordinated the VHF+ work, revised the VHF manual, established the contest working group and equally examined the level of activity on VHF+ among the member associations. In addition, he served on the Executive Board. He remained a member of the Political Relations Committee (PRC) and secretary of the VHF Commission (CQ-QSO 11-12/2021). For his work with the IARU he was awarded with the IARU Region 1 medal of honour.
We are grateful to him for all he has accomplished during his various mandates. We know Jacques as a very driven man, determined to achieve his goals. We wish his wife, family and friends a lot of strength to cope with this loss.
