20 years Eurotunnel

Twenty years ago, May 6 1994, the Channel Tunnel (Eurotunnel) was inaugurated.
A group of French amateurs set up the special event station TM5TSM (Tunnel sous la Manche).

The station was established at Wimereux, the very place where, in 1899, the very first channel crossing wireless message was received.
This message was sent by Marconi to Branly, honoring the inventor of the coherer.

Operating TM5TSM, Valery Agabekov UA6HZ/N2WW contacted the crew on MIR.

FR3, national TV channel, broadcast a reportage on the event.
This 1994 video is now made available by our French colleagues at http://vimeo.com/83382251.
