Wings and Wheels 2012

Voor de elfde maal op rij vindt op 11 en 12 augustus 2012 de military history show Wings & Wheels (met hieraan verbonden internationale militariabeurs) plaats op het reserve NATO-vliegveld te Ursel (O-Vl). Net zoals voorgaande jaren zal een delegatie van ON4EKO (sectie EKO) van de partij zijn om één en ander in goede banen te helpen leiden. De ON4EKO legertent staat centraal opgesteld (tegenover vliegclub Ursel) en is open voor elk bezoek. Naast het feit dat de tent sinds jaar en dag gekend staat als ontmoetingsplaats voor alle aanwezige zendamateurs en radio-liefhebbers, maakt sectie Eeklo ook graag van de gelegenheid gebruik onze hobby te promoten naar het grote publiek. Dit met demonstraties en een ruim aantal leden die geïnteresseerden te woord zullen staan.
ON4EKO/P en ON4CWM/P zullen QRV zijn vanaf vrijdag 10 tot en met zondag 12 augustus (meer info).
9M4SLL - Spratly Layang Layang Island

John, 9M6XRO, and Steve, 9M6DXX, will be operating as 9M4SLL from Pulau Layang Layang, Spratly Islands (IOTA AS-051) from 7th to 13th August, 2012. Activity will be on all bands from 80 to 10 meters on CW, SSB and RTTY, using two stations with linear amplifiers to vertical antennas on the edge of the ocean.

R10QRP - Russian QRP Club 10th Anniversary

The Russian QRP Club is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and will be using the callsign R10QRP during August. Listen out for R10QRP from the RU QRP Rally: Thursday 2nd - Sunday 5th August. The rally is a 4 day camp on the banks of the River Ugra, around 200 miles SE of Moscow. Also, G4GXL will be there using the callsign RA/G4GXL/P (QRV on PSK31, RTTY, CW and SSB).

UBA section WRC will again participate in this year's IOTA contest. Operators Louis PAØLCE, Lieven ON4PQ, Kurt ON5UT, Joel ON6JM, Eddy ON7PO, Pat ON7PQ, Walter ON8LW and Arsène ON4FE will be active as PF4C for the RSGB IOTA Contest from Schouwen-Duiveland Island (EU-146), Zeeland Province, The Netherlands. Plans are for a Multi-Op/All-Band/Low-Power CW and SSB entry.

TM7T - Îles Chausey

Tijdens het laatste weekend van juli vertrekt opnieuw een gemengd ARC-OSB-TRA team naar Îles Chausey om er deel te nemen aan de IOTA-contest. Het team, onder leiding van Jean-Jacques ON7EQ zal er vanaf vrijdagavond 27 juli tot en met zondag 29 juli 12u UTC QRV zijn met de roepnaam TM7T vanop het eiland (IOTA-ref EU-039) in SSB & CW op alle HF-banden. Een unieke kans om deze IOTA-referentie te werken daar dit eiland - natuurreservaat - buiten het zomerseizoen vrijwel verlaten is.

London 2012 Olympics and Paralympic Games

The Radio Society of Great Britain RSGB and Ofcom have reached agreement on the optional use of special callsigns for the period of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. This facility will exist for a seven week period, using the letter “O” and will also be available to Amateur Club licences. Furthermore, calls in the series GB2012aaa will be available for Special Event Stations relating to the Olympics and licences will be issued for four “flagship” stations using the prefix 2O12a where “O” is the letter O, and a is a single letter relating to the location of the station.
Callsign: the letter O will be added to calls, or replace the regional identifier. For example (where “aaa” represents the final alpha block of the callsign):
M3aaa becomes MO3aaa
G3aaa becomes GO3aaa
GM3aaa becomes GO3aaa
2E0aaa becomes 2O0aaa (Two Oscar zero aaa)
